Shutter Island marks the 4Th collaboration with Scorsese and DiCaprio. Their 3 previous works where critically praised, I agree.DiCaprio is a U.S. Marshall, along with his partner played by Ruffalo, in 1954 are sent to a prison for the mentally insane called Shutter Island to investigate an inmate who Mysteriously disappear. Things aren't what they appear to be when they arrive with Ben Kingsley as the less than cooperative chief psychiatrist and administrator.
Now what works here is DiCaprio's acting, he is one of the few actors who is consistently good through out his career, you can almost feel his pain and what he's been trough before coming onto the Island. Another thing its CREEPY. They captured the dark and brutal world of a mental facility just right, I was closing my eyes trough out some parts. Now I will say that for me anyways, I predicted about halfway trough the movie what was really going on, and maybe a lot of people will. So by the time we reach the climax of the movie I wasn't surprised. The idea was cool, and I think it was executed great. Not a lot of people will feel the same way. I think Scorsese/DiCaprio make a wonderful team, and should continue to make more movies.
SEE IT!
