Borderlands playtrough 1

Like I said in a previous post, this game was the most fun I've had playing multi player. When I got the game at midnight, I played it for 5 hours with friends straight! There is plenty to do, plenty of guns to collect. Now if you ask me about the story, i couldn't tell you, because it take s backseat to the game. All i would do is activate the quest and go to the marker on the map and do what it said. From what I could tell, there is this cave or mine that's is locked and opens every 200 years, and when we jump into the game that time has come, but to open it it requires several keys. After doing a few side quest and main story quest, they give you kind of a boss quest where you have to defeat the person and grab one of the keys.

Playing alone is probably one of the downsides of this game, because after playing for hours with your friends and having a blast knocking out quest after the quest, it's just not as fun, but still good. the driving mechanics are good, I know allot of people had complaints about it. towards the end of the game is where it gets freaking hard, they bring in two new enemies to deal with. Again, I wasn't paying attention to the story so i don't really know where they came from. I had a friend who had already beaten it, help me trough the final battle...which didn't make much sense BUT was still fun to play.

So me and a couple of friends knocked out a few achievements, finished up whatever I needed done, and i started my second play trough , which starts you with the level and weapons you finished the game with. the enemies at the starting area are now harder and at around your level. It's almost as if you need more than one person to play trough the second time, because it is a pain.

My final thoughts of Borderlands is...PLAY IT! Sure the story doesn't really make sense, but who cares it's just plain fun, a mindless shooter that you can play roughly 30 hours with your friends. no game can or has done that. And there is 4 classes to play trough, so there is plenty of replay there.

Uncharted 2 and Brutal Legend final review

Uncharted 2 is hands down the best game I've played in years, better than my favorite 2007 game Bioshock. From the minute i picked it up I had to fight myself to put it down. This is the perfect blend of video game and film with the look of a 100 million dollar production value, this game is huge! The voice acting is fantastic and the graphics are eye candy. The puzzle are big, yet there aren't that many or hard to figure out. There is plenty to do in the multiplayer side and a HORDE type mode that you and two other friends can play. The only down side i can think of is that by the end of the game dealing with the enemies became kind of old. but that's just a personal complaint, and in no way should keep anyone from playing this.

I made the mistake of playing this game right after I played Uncharted 2, it's a completely different pace, so at first i was kind of bored. When I played the demo it was a action packed game, but when I picked up the full version, it turned into a RTS (real time strategy) which was cool, but it's not balanced. The humor and voice acting is enjoyable, but I found myself with a completely different game from the demo, and frankly I was bored. maybe I'll try it again in the future and get a different result.

Mad Men in HD

Got myself a Blu-ray player all in one sound system. It sounds awesome, shakes my entire room. So I've been on a blu-ray kick lately

I watched the first season of Mad Men on blu-ray, because my girlfriend hasn't seen it and it was dirt cheap used. I saw it when it first aired in standard definition, so when i saw it in 1080p I was blown away on how amazing it looked. This show remains one of my favorites next to breaking bad, and that era in NYC fascinates me.

I picked up Planet Earth as well, and I'm loving it so far. I have 8 more episodes to go!

Hookah NO MORE!!!

So last weekend I went out with the fellas too Happy hour, because i was in the mood for Boneless wings. Then we decided to go too smoke some hookah. I was really hesitant at first because i wasn't really in the mood to smoke. We tried another hookah joint right across the street from our regular spot. It was more of a night club than anything, really loud music and the customers where mostly middle easterner's who I assume go to ASU. The pipe was a much better quality than our usual joint. Not even an hour in we left and called it a night, it was so loud we couldn't have a conversation. I started to get really sick and threw up when i got home. I will be taking a loooooooooong break from smoking hookah. It's nice to have once in while, but the friends like to do it a little bit too often.

Dark Knight and some more Borderlands

Hit lvl 24 on my Tank in borderlands. About 98% of my game play has been with friends. Reminds me allot like WOW. So far there is allot to do. We left the starting area and arrived into a more open area, filled with bandits who drive around in cars trying to take you out, and BUGS! tons of bugs. We killed a huge boss creature that took a good 5 minutes to kill. One quest sent us back to the starting area to kill a huge bird boss, that one was a bitch to kill. I don't know how far we are into the game, I'm guessing coming up to the halfway mark.

I picked this one up used at Zia used for dirt cheap! but man does this look and sound AMAZING. The Imax sequences fill up the entire screen of my tv.

Oh you funny IGN

LOL love it

Borderlands

Borderlands is the most fun I've had in co op ever

Me and friends where pumped for this game. A role playing first person shooter RPG?? HECK YEAH. Plus to top it off 4 player co op? OMG.
We arrived at Gamestop right at 11pm. there was 1 other person there waiting for the game. Around 11:30 it grew to about 20 people, and me and my friend where the first in line. 12:05am we where in the car and heading home with the game in hand. We planned to game it till sunrise.

I had soda and candy in hand, and me and 2 other friends tarted playing the game. 5 HOURS LATER! We had to force ourselves to stop playing....It was really fun. The guns are plenty and the enemies are fun to kill. It's seriously like a mini MMO. I can't wait to play some more.

More PS3 suckage and don't let your nephew play with your games!

So me and a friend where trying to play some co op in Uncharted 2. I synched my bluetooth headset to the PS3 and thought I was set to go. So I joined a party and tried talking into it, nothing...after a few minutes I went into chat settings and had to activate the bluetooth, after that was done I was able to hear myself over the speakers. Now I went back into the party, and told my friend I was ready. But I guess the guy was having problems synching his bluetooth as well. Now this is 20 minutes into trying to figure all of this....this is ridiculous!! So he finally got his up and running, so a total of about half an hour was spent trying to figure everything out, plus a few "Network connection errors" We where able to play a couple of games. It just boggles my mind on why Sony makes it so hard to team up. AGAIN if we where playing on the Xbox 360 we would of been up and running in seconds, it also helps that the headsets are connected to the controllers, so no need to connect over bluetooth. SONY get with the f^&& program.

So I was about 5 hours into Uncharted 2, roughly 75% finished. I saved and called it a night. My nephew wanted to play it, I hesitated at first, because I was worried that he might saved over my progress. But He assured me he would be very careful. This morning I go to play it and possibly finish the game, and I find out that he saved over my progress....I WAS PISSED. He got about 55% into the game. So I just started from his progress. Losing about an hour and a half....Better than starting from the beginning again. I don't hate my nephew, he just wont touch any of my games from now on!

This cracked me up

Passed out around 10pm and just woke up. I guess I was really tired.

My nephew stayed the night over at our house. I told him about Drakes Fortune 2, and he didn't believe me when I mentioned to him that this game is amazing. So after watching me play for an hour, he was blown away. I went to bed and he ended up playing his own game til 5 in the morning.

Uncharted 2 and Some Brutal legend and maybe some Borderlands

I'm about 55% into the game. And all I can say is "Wow. Just WOW" the sequel to the 2007 critically acclaimed Uncharted, ups the game 10 fold. I sat down and told myself "I'm just going to play 20 minutes" Almost 2 hours later, I found myself glued to the TV and not wanting to stop. Even my girlfriend was into all the all the non stop action and excitement. I will write a full review when I'm done with it.

I played a little bit of Brutal legend. Now I don't know what it was, maybe i wasn't in the mood, but I wasn't really feeling it. I expected allot better. BUT! I've only played a little bit of the game. so I'm not going to bash it until Ive played some more and beaten it.

Pretty excited to pick up Borderlands on Tuesday. I reserved it the other day, trading in Halo 3 ODST (this game burnt me out) and GTA 4 (DONE WITH IT). Gamestop was giving 25% extra trade in credit towards the game. It's a first person shooter/RPG. An open world game, where you travel and do quests. The thing that attracted me to this game, was that you can play with 3 other people, and go trough the entire game together. I can be on a quest by myself and maybe be having problems with it, i call a couple of my friends to get them to help me out, we take care of it, and whatever they got and exp, they bring it all back with them in their solo game. I don't think a game has done anything like that. Fable II tried to do that, but failed miserably when the player couldn't bring any xp, weapons, or gold back with them.

Carrier

I was browsing Netflix on the xbox 360 and stumbled on to this Documentary that follows the deployment, from May 7, 2005 to November 8, 2005, of the supercarrier USS Nimitz. US Navy. It follows the crew and interview them on their experience and how they feel about the war. I found myself glued to this 10 part miniseries. It gives you the up close and personal view of how it is to live aboard a floating city for six months at a time, and how really difficult it is. I found myself caring for them, and by the end I was crying along with them when they arrived home to see their families and children. I haven't seen nothing like this.

I rented Destroy All Humans...I absolutely hated that game...horrible!I took it back and swapped it out for Saw for the 360. I have to say they got the feel and look of the Saw series right, it's pretty freaking creepy, and some of the stuff they make you do. Like Grabbing a key that's in a toilet full of used syringes. Some of the trap you have to get out of or save people from are pretty hard and F*** UP, but fun. The combat system is the worst I've ever seen in a video game. But that doesn't completely take away from this demented cynical game. It does what it was set out to do, CREEP YOU OUT.

All in all it was a pretty lazy weekend.

Dirt 2 and Hookah

I'm not a huge fan of racing games, if not at all. But decided to give Dirt 2 a try, after it got wide critical acclaim from critics, and I have to say that i was blown away on how much fun and addicting this game is, and the racing is very exciting. The career mode is VERY long, I kid you not. But it doesn't get repetitive. Each race is different. The online mode is based on experience points where you try to beat some real people, but I didn't put too much time into this. I can see myself buying this game down the line when the price drops, or until Dirt 3 comes out. Because now I'm a BIG fan of the series.

Hit up some Serranos's with David for some awesome Mexican food. Then met up with hong at King Tut's for hookah. I have to say that My eyes almost fell out of my head from all the hot girls that where there, almost didn't want to leave. We decided to go and check out Paranormal Activity but was sold out until the 1am showing. Decided to call it a night, after hitting up Albertson's for a candy run. Went home and gamed it for a bit with friends till i crashed pretty early

LEVAR WHAAAAAAt?!

This SHOCKED me when I first read this. I was traumatized. Did he really suffer and hate Reading Rainbow so much? Did he go 20 plus years like that??! But minutes later on Levar Burton's twitter account he confirmed that he did not write the article. The good people over at The Onion did. Pretty freaking hilarious.

Levar Burton's "My living nightmare of encouraging kids to read is over"

Ten things girls think are cute, but aren't
So true lol

CANNOT WAIT FOR THIS!!!! GAH!

So efin CREEPY!
Man....I would SH*** myself if i where to go in here

SCORE!

I found this while rummaging trough Zia Records.
It was a Limited Collector's Edition of Call Of Duty 4. It came with a DVD of the making of, the art of Call of Duty 4, and of course the game. PLUS it was dirt cheap. I had to buy it. Since I only had the game for the ps3 and ended up selling it. I'm glad I got it because I ended up playing with 3 of my friends tonight, had a blast.

My friend recently got back from Bangkok, we where talking about our new laptops we got, and that they both have Web cams built in them. So I did my first Video Chat on Skype. Not bad. We talked on the phone anyways lol. That's me at the bottom left.

A couple of first impressions

Renewed frankcardona.info for another year lol. Expires on 12-05-10. Godaddy is cheap, but on your way out to the checkout line on their site, is very annoying. They try to sell you everything! They seem very desperate. Also got rid of my other personal blog that Godaddy was hosting. It was 7 bucks a month. Didn't use it much anymore because Wordpress wasn't stable, it would glitch constantly, so I stopped blogging on it. Blogger has been good to me, they Host this for free.

Bought a couple of DLC's from XBL.

Shadow Complex. I've been hearing nothing but good things about this game. So I gave it a shot, and I was hooked. Reminds me of old school Metroid. This game looks amazing and it's a 2-D game, with some 3-D moments here and there. You get experience and level up. You can follow the objective path, or wander a bit away from it and be rewarded with power ups. I can't wait to finish it.

I was moments from buying Sam & max Save the world, when I saw a review of Trials HD. I quickly changed my mind and bought it instead. I can describe the game as being RIDICULOUSLY hard! But you can't help to have a blast each time you play it, it's pretty addicting. There's no racing anybody else This is a fun game , the only controls are brake. accelerate, tilt back or forward. I made 2 good decisions on arcade games today.

Weekend Roundup

The weekend with my kid was awesome. Also tiring! But that's a good thing. I stayed in on Saturday because Liam and I where running all over the place. The park, the store and around the house. We where both dead tired.
Sunday was spent mostly outside. I dropped my son off and headed to eat with my lady. Kind of a weekly ritual.

Came home and did 2 hours of Halo odst Firefight with David. It didn't really seem that long. Did it for the achievement for reaching 200k points. After that round, we where joined by Chris and one of David's friend. Did 90 or so minutes on another level in Firefight. This was fun, 4 of us running around trying to stay alive! We all stopped when we got the 200k achievement. This is my video game quota for a few days. I will only do long gaming sessions like that if it's on the weekends, If I don't have my son that weekend, or making sure I take care of my Gf first.

Watched Disc 2 of Smallville season 8. Glad the Blue-Ray disc can hold 6 episodes instead of the regular 3 or 4 a DVD holds. I've heard a lot of bad things about it. But I like it. the Move from Smallville to Metropolis is a nice and fresh change for the show. I will admit, that the same characters especially the females, getting into danger every week is getting a little old...8 seasons OLD. But they are showing Clark finally start to evolve to what he is meant to do in life.

Time for some ZZZzzzzZZZZz

Nerd RANT "Gamer Points"

I never really played my games on the xbox for achievements, sure they are nice to have, but I don't play the games JUST to get them. I know a few fellow gamers who play the games just for the Gamer points. If they don't have any gamer points worth getting, then there's no reason to play the game at all, which kind of sucks. The way I do it I get gamer points by going trough the game, beating a level or killing enemies, blowing stuff up. Once I've taken care of the game then I'll go back and try to get some Gamer points, If I can't get it or it's too hard I just don't do it, no big deal. I get some crap because I reached the 18k mark in GP, I've been told that I do the same thing, I always tell them No, I have that much because I actually almost see every game that I play trough to the very end, unless it really sucks ass, then I stop playing it. I know some people who if they can't get gamer points they stop playing...which is sad. I remember the days of old school gaming, where you played games just to play! none of this hard core bullshit!

Best video ever!

If they would of put this in Star Wars it would of made billions of dollars!

F^%$^% ZOMBIELAND

This movie was one word. AMAZING. I didn't want to get myself too hyped about it, because I heard a lot of good things. But it exceeded my expectations. The characters where awesome, the movie was hilarious and there was gore galore. This has to be my favorite zombie movies since the 2004 remake of Dawn of the dead. i wasn't a fan of Shawn of the dead, everyone praises it...but I don't see what's so good about that flick. There is a cameo that will be remembered for a really long time, absolute freaking funny. Fan of Zombie movies or not, see this movie.

After the movie, we went to eat some Buffalo wild wings and shot the shit. It was a fun night.

Video Game Facts

It’s a wild world of gaming out there. The video game industry’s history is decorated with its share of scandals and silly moments. Spoiled by the Internet’s ability to serve us with inside scoops as they happen, there are some stories that many missed of days past. Here are some fun facts to beef up your trivia arsenal…

PlayStation Was Almost A Nintendo Product

Back in the 16-Bit console wars, there was a lot of pressure to move on to the “revolutionary new technology” known as CD-ROM. Nintendo was still king of the hill, but was losing some ground due to the Sega CD and PC Engine. Nintendo began working with Sony to produce a CD-ROM drive for their SNES. It was named the “Play Station.”

Where the Big N made their gravest error was then going behind Sony’s back to more seriously pursue a deal with Phillips to engineer the CD-ROM add-on instead. Furious, Sony took the technology that it had already developed and invested in releasing their own competitive console. And Sony has been one of Nintendo’s most aggressive rivals ever since.

The Atari Landfill

The early 1980s were a dark time in video game history. The market had been flooded with so many crappy games that it suffered a near-fatal crash. The final nail in the coffin appeared to be ET: The Extra-Terrestrial for the Atari 2600, universally agreed upon as the worst video game of all time. They literally couldn’t give the game away, resorting to distributing the game as the free prize in breakfast cereal.

At the end of it all, Atari ordered all remaining copies of ET, as well as many other titles they were unable to sell to be driven out into the desert by the truckload, and buried in a landfill. Somewhere in New Mexico now rests an Atari graveyard, filled with thousands of unsold cartridges. Don’t think about seeking relics of gaming’s past, since Atari chose that particular landfill due to its no-scavenging policies and every cartridge was thoroughly crushed to bits before being buried.

Most Games Are Developed By The Same People

Whenever a video game company wants to knock out a game, but reserve all their in-house talent for the blockbuster titles, they outsource it to another development house. The house often turned to is Tose. Tose has developed games for Sega, Capcom, Square-Enix… just about everyone.
