Homies

Got an unexpected call from my friend Gadberry, he's been so busy with moving into his house and busy with work, that we haven't had a chance to kick it.
Went and grabbed some beers, played some pool, drank some more and talked. Sounded like he needed a night like that. Recounted old stories from the days of working at AMC in our teens...good times.

Came home and my friend from Bangkok called. Its always nice catching up with him..talked for over an hour...about random things..lol

T-Mobile is cool..for now

So I called T-Mobile to check on the status of my refund check. They said it was mailed out Thursday, should be here any day. I was so mad at them and their horrible customer service that I threatened to cancel my line. They came back with knocking $10 off my data plan...Not a bad thing..I might stay with them.

Water Park

Fantastic weekend. Had my kid. Friday it was my moms turn to host the prayer meeting at her house. Since Liam doesn't stay still for very long. I took him for a walk around the neighborhood. It was nice.

Saturday we went to a water park in Tempe. It was a small one with mostly water shooting from the ground, we all had a lot of fun. grabbed some Domino's on the way home. It was the first time I've had Pizza from there in 8 years. They've definitely improved their food since then.

Sunday was spent indoors, because it was so damn hot outside. Liam and I went out to play. But his face would turn red. So I played with him in the house. Watched some kids shows on Netflix streaming. Mom made tacos for all of us, it was freaking fantastic!

Later I dropped Liam off with his mom. came home and took a nap, I was beat from trying to keep up with my kid. I went out with friends for sushi, then the usual hangout spot Iguana Mack's.

Awesome weekend.

Final Fantasy VII

I was aimlessly browsing youtube, when a song from Nobuo Uematsu's Gold Saucer came trought my head. So I looked it up and sure enough, there where tons of videos on it. So nostalgia kicked in, and all these memories began to flood in from the summer of 1997.

I was given a Playstation on my birthday December 1996, and the games I played on it where good. But nothing that was memorable. The most memorable games where still fresh from the Nintendo 64, like Starfox 64. I use to rent my PS games at our local video rental store Power Video. I would rent game after game, that I would usually never finish. Around September I new game appeared on the rental wall called Final Fantasy 7. I've read a little bit on it and all i knew about it, was that it was delayed over a year. So I rented it. Had a friend of mine who would spend weeks on end over at our house during the summer. (still friends to this day) He was there with me. We got home, I opened the case to the game. 3 CD-Roms?!?! GEEZ! Was our first expressions.

When we fired up there Playstation, and the opening music started, plus the opening FMV movie came on, we where blown away. We where instantly hooked. I was new to RPG, and had to get use to it. There was so much story and so much DEPTH, that it took use a whole year to beat it. I'm not kidding. Summer of 1997 to Summer of 1998. Mostly because we would get stuck on a certain part, try to pass it but ultimately fail. Set the game aside for a month or so. This was back in the days where I didn't know there was Strategy guides out there for games. I was at a Barnes& Nobles one day. I stumbled onto a a very small section labeled "Strategy Guides" And sure enough there was a thick book for FFVII. After purchasing that guide, we where able to pass any obstacles. We where able to make it to the very end, and once we beat the tough boss, I still remembered high fiving my friend. It felt like a huge accomplishment, like we did something major in our lives. Did we stop playing the game? Hell no.

The game could be played any way you wanted, from the way you answer other people, plus the plethora of side quests and optional characters to recruit. I can't even recall how many times I've played the game, I can assume over a dozen times, from start to finish. I even figured out a way to connect my Playstation to my VCR, and record my playtrough. It took 3 VHS tapes on Extended play. Yeah I was a major nerd.

I can't express how much FFVII impacted my life. How addicted I was to this game. or how many hours and sleepless nights where spent getting to the next area, or to the next plot point. I was so enthralled by every aspect. I can safely say that this is my favorite game of all time. Sure i have other favorite games. But nothing thats affected me so much. On a side not, I rented that game so much, I think I spent about double the amount of what the game was worth. Until I finally bought the game, for a whopping $49.99. Shit loads of money back then.

I even spent $60 dollars on the Official Soundtrack. It was 4 discs and it had every single music on it. I loved it!

They did release the game on the PSN pn the PS3. I wish they would of updated the graphics and made it HD. But I hear they are possibly planning a remake. I hope so.

July 22

My surgery is scheduled for July 22. Yeeeeeeey! not really excited about it.

The iPhone 4 looks awesome! Except almost everybody is having reception problems when they hold the device, blocking the antennas. I was interested in getting one! But now not so much.

Giving Doctor Who another go, I tried watching it a year ago. But didn't get into it. It's pretty good. Definitely out there.

T-Moile use to be awesome

So I got a refund coming to me. I returned a phone to T mobile. But since they can't give you cash back if its over $150. They have to send it to you as a check in the mail. Okay fine, I was told 5-10 days. 2 weeks passed. I gave the store a call to find out what was going on. Turns out the refund was never faxed to corporate to have the refund processed. So it sat there at the store for 2 weeks...after calling and bitching, they fast tracked the refund. SHOULD be getting it in a few days.

Finished season 3 of Mad Men. What a great season. I didn't want it to end. Can't wait for the new season to start up again in July.

Surgery it is

Saw my Ear Doctor a bit ago. My only option is surgery. What I have behind my ear is dead skin, that's been slowly growing over the years, causing an infection that's eating away at the bone that bounces the sound off to my eardrum. They will be making an incision behind my ear and going trough the ear. It's an outpatient procedure so it's done in about 2 hours. I can't do anything 24 hours after. And in about 2 days I should be back to normal. They will be putting medical gel in my ear, and will stay in there for a month or so, slowly draining. Also my hearing will be reduced as my ear heals. It will slowly come back and could take up to two months.

Now the Doctor Isn't 100% percent sure if the surgery will help improve my hearing in that ear. BUT at least the infection will be cleaned out. THEN they will deal with the hearing.

Kind of nerve racking. But I was expecting this. At least it's not major surgery!

I should be getting a call to have the procedure st up in the next couple of days.

Sweet 16 Pre-production

We officially booked the reception hall for my sister's sweet 16. They only required a down payment and the rest will be billed to us every month until its paid off. It looks like it will be a fun gathering. Already got almost 100 confirmed guests, and it doesn't even take place until October 31st.

Since I will be walking my sister at the ceremony, I will be wearing a tux. So I promised her that I will lose some weight for the event. I NEED TO!! That way I'll look good for all the pictures they'll be taking.

I go see the ear specialist tomorrow. I guess he will take a better look at the entire situation and tell me what the next step is. I know surgery is in the foreseeable future, so I have to make sure I ask questions!

My HDTV started displaying a black line from top to bottom on the left hand side of the screen, its hard to notice. But does stand out when there's a white scene. It only happens when I'm using the blu-ray Player playing regular DVD's and streaming Netflix. I haven't tried playing a Blu-Ray movie. I'm going to call technical support in the morning.

Father's Day

Got Liam at 9 AM. We all got ready for church. After church we where debating to stay at church to eat, since they where having a Father's Day lunch. We decided to head home. Mom cooked some awesome ribs. My kid is my napping partner. We took a 2 hour nap :) After I dusted off the old pool and swam with my kid. Sure there wasn't enough room for the both of us...BUT my kid had a blast!

Had a pretty rad Father's Day.

Toy Story

I saw Toy Story 3 TWICE since it came out, and all I can is wow...is there nothing Pixar can do wrong?

I still remember watching Toy Story back in 1995. My two older brothers took me to see it, I was 12 going on 13 and that's something I'll never forget. Toy Story 2 came out November 1999, and I was working at a movie theater when it came out. I was 16 going on 17, and all I can remember is watching it with all my friends and laughing my ass off. Almost 11 years later Toy Story 3 came out. It was a no brainer that I was going to see this, I'm 27 now with a 2 and a half year old kid. I went to see it the the night it came out, and there where no kids there whatsoever, there where nothing but people my age, people who grew up with these movies.

By the end of the film I was left in tears, and didn't realize how much I came to know and love these characters very much. I am fortunate and grateful to have grown with these movies, and knowing my son will enjoy it as well because they are timeless.

Ear stuff #34234

Went to the Doctor's this morning. My doctor hadn't looked at the CAT scans...GEZZ! But the initial report is that I do have some sort of build up behind my right ear. It's not tumor or anything so that was a relief. So he will be looking at the CAT scan more in depth, they will call me to set up an appointment.

I was given a hearing test, the first one in over a decade. They hooked up these earphones to my ears, put me in all sorts of conditions, from wind blowing in one ear while they make noises in the other. The results? My left ear is perfectly normal, as for my right...my doctor told me it was terrible...So they are assuming it's from the build up from behind the ear, and hope to bring my hearing in the right ear to a normal level, which will require surgery. So I see a Doctor that deals with JUST the ear next Tuesday, and we will go from there.

OKAY THEN!

weeeeeeeeeee

My phone is being delivered tomorrow!!

Phone drama!

I dropped my Blackberry in liquid a few days back. I was devastated for a day or two. The kind people at T-Mobile offered to send me a new one. Should be here today or tomorrow, CANT WAIT!

My buddy talked me into trying a 10 day free trial of Warhammer online. I played for a bit, and it reminded me a lot of Lord of the Rings Online. Sadly my computer is a bit outdated and has a bit of trouble running the game. Yet..it runs WOW with no probs...weird.

So the Xbox 360 Slim was announced today, and will be hitting stores this week. Might be picking one up in the very near future, from what I've seen it looks very sexy.

Lots of stuff was announced at E3. Later this year is going to be crazy! Way to many games coming out..must get 5 jobs to afford all of it!

Started Mad Men season 3 on Blu-Ray. That show is awesome. I'm going to wait for Breaking Bad season 3 to come out on Blu-Ray as well.

GYS

Back in 2002 A couple of my friends started up a web comic. I contributed to stories and such for a period of time. They called it Graveyard Shift after our friend Jack, who use to work the Graveyard Shift at a gas station. We would always go visit him. It was fun times. My favorite one (pictured above) is one of my favorites. Check it out! GYS

The Creators of GYS went on to bigger and better things with their kick ass webcomic The Konamis!

Netflix plays nice

Usually I don't like dealing with netflix customer service. But I somehow messed up the order of Mad Men Season 3 in my que. So they where going to send me disc 2 first instead of disc 1.

So I called them to see if it was too late to make changes. They said no and offered to send me disc 1 for free. Since I only have the 1 out at a time plan. So I will have both discs...AWESOME. Usually they kind of suck at customer service. So I was surprise how quick and courteous they where.

SCAN me

So my appointment was at 8:15 this morning. I dropped my sister off at school, and made my way to the doctors. I was almost there when I got a phone call. It was the Docs office telling me that the technician doing that CAT scans, had called in sick. So I was scheduled to 2PM.

Ran some errands for my mom. Went to Target to pick up Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. Since it was the cheapest place to buy the book than anywhere else by 10 bucks.
Got to the doctors office out in Ahwatukie. After getting lost for a bit I, I found the place. I thought I was going to be stuffed into one of those cramped tubes for 45 minutes, while I got scanned. But it was actually just a table you lay on, you rest you head on a pad, and a small circular ring scans you..its futuristic and shit. Crazy. Took maybe 20 minutes. I guess I find out what's up with my ear area when I go see the Doc next week.

Short #254

Worked some more on the fence for the front yard of the house. Finishing up tomorrow night. Best time to work is at night!

Tonight was awesome. Chilled with friends.

Pretty cool day.

Negative Peeps

So I've been taking people off my friends list on Facebook. Mostly because they're sooo negative about everything. Most of their post or comments are EMO.

There's this guy who I couldn't stand back when I use to work with him. He was the poster child of what drugs will do to you're brain. I kid you not. So I never really was his friend. He asked to be my friend on Facebook. Why not? I'm sure he's changed, maybe not so annoying as he was in the past. I was very wrong. Almost every post I would put up on my wall, he would comment on, and it was something that never made any sense. So I would normally delete his comments. He started doing a lot of that to other people. Making no sense whatsoever, and mainly just annoying everyone. So I deleted him.

I get a message a few hours later. Asking me what he did wrong, and pretty much took it really hard. He was so devastated that I took him off my friend list. I responded by telling him he shouldn't make a huge deal out of it. Taking him off my friends list doesn't mean I hate your guts. And told him not to write me about any facebook drama anymore. That was the last I heard of him. When I go to my friends page, I still see him doing the same things he was doing, and I just crack up. Feel sorry for the guy.

painting SUCKS!

Yesterday I painted my mom's fence we built. I took me 3 hours and did it under the scorching sun...it sucked LOL. But we got a lot done.

Our churches weekly prayer meeting was held at my mom's house as well.

After I went and saw Get him to the greek. It was funny and surprisingly serious.

Not a bad day.

Yard Work

I did a lot of yard work today. From cutting the grass to building and fixing the fence in the front yard. My mom is having the churches prayer meeting tomorrow night. The meeting is always held at someone's house every week. I still have to do some more tomorrow....geeeez! :)

Week 1 of no Xbox

So I glanced at the date and realized its been a whole week since I started my 1 month Xbox cleansing routine. Its kind of a test I'm giving to myself to see if I can make it a whole month without touching my Xbox.

Do I miss it? Not really. Firing up my Xbox became so routine everyday, that it became second nature. I tried to limit how much I played on it everyday. But that didn't do any good. After playing Red Dead Redemption. One of the best games I've ever played. I went over and read the stats on the game, and it said I played 30+ hours of the game. I told myself this would be a good time to take a break from gaming.

I will admit, that the first couple of days I felt like something was missing, and I was having some sort of withdrawals. But I had picked up the new Blackberry 9700 a couple of days before, so that keep my mind of it. I still stream Netflix but through my Blu-Ray player. And I will say that the video player isn't as good as the Xbox's. BUT it works.

In roughly 24 days. I will fire up the xbox again, or maybe not even have the urge to. Eventually setting a reasonable amount of time for gaming everyday. There are games that came out that I want to try. So we'll see what happens!

More ear crap

I had a doctor's appointment this morning. I was to go in to get a hearing test. Dr. Sha checked my left ear and told me it looked fantastic.. As for my right one, it looked clogged. He doesn't know why I keep getting drainage from that ear, since there isn't a sign of any infection. So he went in and tried to suck the discharge out. He stopped when he noticed that I started bleeding. He mentioned that the infection might actually be behind the ear in the bone area.

So he prescribed me some drops, to clean out my ear of any infection, and scheduled a CAT scan to see where the infection is. He mentioned that I might have to have surgery to clear the infection. I go back in 2 weeks to see what happens. CRAZZY stuff.

Thought I was going to DIE!

When I got home from Iguana Mack's last night. I started to feel a little sick in the stomach. I figured a few beers combined with bar food ain't always a good mix. But I've done it several times before, and came out relatively unharmed. I went to bed, and started to have minor stomach pains. No big deal, I figured I'd sleep it off.

3:30 AM. I wake up in such pain that I couldn't lay down without it hurting even more. I tried to go back to sleep, only to be woken up by the pain.

I made my way to the toilet. I sat on the floor of the toilet, to see if I would throw up. The pain got worse and worse. It pretty much became unbearable. So the first time in my life, I made myself throw up. It was pretty disgusting, it took several attempts, and I was finally able to make myself hurl. I started to feel a little better. The stuff I threw up was from eating chipotle earlier that day. The steak was waaay under cooked, and sometimes under cooked meat messes with my stomach. it will be a long time until I pay Chipotle a visit.

The pain continued but was nowhere compared to what it was a couple of hours before. Once I got home the pain slowly started going away. I have no pain right now. But I do feel a little nauseous. Taking it easy, firing up the Netflix on my blu-ray player. Avoiding my Xbox 360.

I've gotten food poisoning many times before. But nothing as severe and painful as this experience. I never want to go trough it again!

Movie Day

So I was suppose to meet some friends the Aquarium this morning. I guess there was some mix up and I guess they meant the Aquarium 45 minutes from my house instead of the one 10 minutes away. So I decided to go to the movies with some other friends.

First one was MacGruber. It wasn't really that funny. It reminded me of the humor in Freddy got fingered. The comedy felt forced. I can see why It bombed at the box office.

Snuck into Shrek 4. This one was funny. Now not as good as the first two. But better than the third. Was it a strong ending to the series? No it was kind of half assed.

Next was Prince of Persia. I wasn't really expecting much. But it was actually better than what I thought it would be. That being said. It's definitely not going to be a summer blockbuster.
